From Bear Encounter to 500k ARR: My Unexpected Ecommerce Journey
Back in 2019, I was just another software engineer with a knack for coding and a love for my dog, Buster. We had a daily routine - a walk in the heart of the Canadian wilderness. It was our time to step away from the screens and enjoy the beauty of our surroundings.
One particular day took an unexpected turn. Buster and I were deep into our usual trail when we stumbled upon a bear. A hulking, majestic creature, it was a sight to behold. Instead of fear, I felt a strange sense of inspiration watching the bear in its natural habitat.
The experience ignited an idea in me. I started thinking about how we can harness the power and beauty of nature in our daily lives. This was the seed that would eventually grow into my ecommerce business.
I dove headfirst into the world of natural cosmetics, sourced right here in Canada. I spent countless hours researching, planning, and implementing my business plan. It wasn’t always easy, and there were numerous obstacles along the way. But, every time I faced a challenge, I would remember the bear, the raw power of nature, and my resolution would be renewed.
Buster was with me every step of the way, my constant companion through the late nights, the early mornings, and everything in between.
Fast forward to a year later, and my ecommerce venture had reached an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of 500k. It was a surreal moment, realizing that an unexpected encounter with a bear had led me down this path of entrepreneurship. But, here we are, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the journey.
Today, I continue to sell natural cosmetics, taking pride in the fact that every product is a testament to the beauty and power of the Canadian wilderness. This journey has been about more than just building a business; it’s been about embracing the unexpected, pursuing a passion, and of course, those unforgettable walks with Buster.
